The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) is pleased to advise that nominations are now open for membership positions on the Disability Support Industry Reference Committee (IRC).
Positions open for nomination are:
-
Disability service providers (two positions)
-
Rural or remote disability service provider (one position)
-
Assistive technologies expertise (one position)
-
Consumer advocacy group or body (one position).
These positions will join peak body and employee representatives already confirmed by the AISC as members of the IRC. The full IRC membership is available on the AISC website.
The final structure and membership of the Disability Support IRC was agreed by the AISC following consideration of public feedback on an earlier draft. Changes have included renaming the IRC from ‘Disability Care’ to ‘Disability Support’ to better reflect the purpose of the industry’s workforce and the support it provides to individuals living with a disability.
AISC Chair, Professor John Pollaers OAM, is eager to see the work of the IRC commence.
“The IRC will work closely with providers, industry stakeholders and individuals to enhance the skills of the current and future workforce,” Professor Pollaers said.
“The needs of individuals and their families living with a disability varies from around the clock care, to supported independent living, and the AISC want to ensure that the skills and training to support this is of the highest possible standards”.
Nominations for the open positions on the Disability Support IRC should be submitted via the Disability Support Industry Reference Committee website by COB Tuesday, 23 April 2019. (https://www.aisc.net.au/content/disability-support-industry-reference-committee).
