New Training Products to support Critical Skills for Recovery

On this page

Industry Reference Committees and Skills Organisations have been asked to put forward project proposals for training products that could be developed to support displaced workers to quickly secure new employment opportunities and/or urgent and unmet skills needs of business arising from the economic impact of COVID-19.

The call for project proposals is one part of the Australian Industry and Skills Committee’s (AISC) strategic approach to helping to ensure the VET sector is supporting skills needs arising as a result of the pandemic and during the economic recovery period.

The AISC Emergency Response Sub-Committee is assessing proposals against their capacity to support achievement of one or both of the following objectives:

  1. Supporting displaced workers and those at risk of displacement to urgently obtain the necessary skills to take advantage of opportunities that exist in the labour market, either through existing training products or the rapid creation of new products where required
  2. Supporting urgent and unmet skills needs of businesses as they seek to adjust to the significantly altered economic environment and transition to new opportunities, particularly in industries undergoing significant structural change as a result of COVID-19.
